In the year of mercy the spiritual emotions of compassion and gratitude are essential to forming our children as merciful beings. But can you teach emotions? Are emotions, especially compassion and gratitude, caught or taught? Is there a “downside” to these emotions? We will explore the role of emotion in the curriculum in Catholic schools and how teachers/schools can balance the heart and the heart in educating the whole child.
