Strategies for Managing Anxiety in the Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Anxiety has become an epidemic for our children. In a world of technology, where the divorce rate is 50%, and there are more pressures than ever to succeed, even the youngest of children are beginning to struggle with the symptoms of anxiety. When a child is struggling with anxiety to a teacher or a parent it may look like a shy child, behavior difficulties and disobedience. Teachers and parents alike try behavior strategies, token economies, discipline and punishment to gain a child's cooperation. If anxiety is at the root of these concerns many of these strategies will worsen the issue, not rectify it. This presentation aims to provide teachers and even parents with a greater understanding of anxiety and tangible strategies to take into the classroom or home to support the child who is struggling. Ultimately providing both teacher and child a more pleasant classroom experience, setting the child up for future academic and emotional successes.
