Let's Play! Engaging ALL Students in Physical Activity

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Within one class, students will differ in many ways. They will have different hair colors, heights, reading abilities, musical tastes, physical activity interests and more. In fact, children will differ in their ability to move, in how well they can see or hear and in how they take in and process information about the world around them. This range of abilities and challenges exist with or without official disability diagnosis. When planning physical education activities, whether running 50m, dancing, rolling across a mat, or throwing & catching an object, we need to consider that there will be big differences in how each of our student’s perform. In this session, we will explore ways to adapt and modify movement activities to suit the abilities of the students in your classes, and thereby creating an inclusive environment where everyone is engaged and can participate fully. Discover simple adaptations for equipment, tasks and physical activity environments that will increase the inclusive nature of your physical activity space. Come prepared to be active & leave with practical ideas and resources to implement right away!
