Scott Onuczko is a CTS teacher in Spruce Grove Alberta and in this session he will share how he has set up his Communication Technology Program as a fully student directed learning environment. Scott runs multi-level courses at the 10, 20, 30 level and offers a wide range of different Communication Technology courses that students are able to choose from when they take his course. Scott will go through how he uses the online learning environment Moodle to handle the logistics of 30 students doing 30 different things all at the same time, and he will also share how the students in his program all design projects based on their individual interests, skills and strengths. He will also show how he has worked in real life authentic learning experiences into his Communication Technology program and share some of the benefits and costs of doing so.

Spruce Grove Composite High School
Scott Onuczko is the Department Head of the Career and Technology Studies department at Spruce Grove Composite High School in Parkland School Division No. 70. He currently teaches Communication Technology 10, 20 & 30 and his work in this program has earned him the honor of recently being the recipient of both the Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award and the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
