Roll D6 For Initiative: Roleplaying Games as a Way to Understand and Generate Compelling Fiction

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

For many students a story is either “awesome” or “it sucked”. It’s a challenge to get them to understand the components of a story in such a way that they can describe what about it they did or didn’t like. It’s even more of a challenge to get them to reliably create a compelling piece of fiction of their own. In this session we will look at how roleplaying games can be ideal for teaching the structure of a well formed piece of fiction while at the same time emphasizing the importance of character interaction. It won’t be all talky-talk though. We’ll do it and it will be awesome!
