The Other Side of the Door

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

When you walk through the doors of your school you know what your classes are going to be like and what you have to do, who your colleagues are and who your students are. When you retire you walk out of that door into a new and exciting world but what does it look like? What is out there? This session will give you a glimpse of what can await you. This would be about a 45 to 60 min. presentation with three main sections. 1. Covering the questions of why and when to retire, we would also cover such things as what to do with all the “junk” you have collected over the years. Retirement requires a different mindset than working from Monday to Friday, ten months of the year with two weeks at Christmas and Easter. What do you do with all that free time? Volunteer opportunities and part time jobs are some possibilities discussed. 2. What is ARTA? The history of the organization and what it has to offer its members in the way of services, information and its infinity program would be the main points of this part of the presentation. A description of the various chapters and an invitation to join. 3. While ASEBP can continue to cover you to age 65, what then? ARTA has its own independent benefit plan designed and maintained by teachers. How to get coverage, what is covered and how much would all be covered. A question period to answer specific questions would then be allowed
