'Student Government, For the Students, By the Students'

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This session mainly targets the social studies 9 curriculum. I will share my experience in teaching social studies 9, as I found that several students did not connect to the concepts discussed in class, and found within the textbook. As such, I adapted my teaching and had the students create a classroom government, and eventually a classroom economy, which eventually took over the classroom. For this session, I will be sharing what I created in my classroom, and connect it with the outcomes found in the curriculum.

Michael Saretzky

I was raised on Vancouver Island, in the small town of Gold River, where I graduated high school, and then moved to Victoria to pursue my post secondary education. I began teaching in Fox Creek, where I taught for three years, and in a variety of subject areas. For the past nine years my wife and I have been teaching in Hinton. During my time in Hinton, I have taught several different subjects with my main focus being social studies.
