Gabrielle Scrimshaw is a young Dene woman with a passion to create social impact. Because Gabrielle is First Nations, she was born with some daunting numbers stacked against her. She was three times more likely to be unemployed, be underfunded in her quest for education, and more likely to drop out of high school than finish it. In the face of these raw circumstances, she worked hard to follow her heart and was encouraged by many educators along the way. In this inspirational tale, she discusses how everyday actions from teachers can make a large impact, while sharing information about Canada’s growing Aboriginal community.
